ID Photo Background Remover

Official photo requirements are unforgiving and vary by country and document: exact dimensions, head size within the frame, open eyes, even lighting, and a plain background in a specific colour. Get one of them wrong and the application comes back rejected, usually weeks later.

The usual answer is a booth or a photographer, for a photo that takes thirty seconds to produce and is needed once. The phone in your pocket already has a better camera than the booth does.

Take a photo with your phone's camera app, or pick one through Android's photo picker. Choose the document type, the background colour it requires, and adjust brightness if the light was uneven.

Finding the face and separating it from the background both run on the device, using Google ML Kit with models built into the app. The same on-device pass checks the photo against the document's rules — head size within the frame, whether the eyes are open, how even the lighting is — so a photo is rejected by the app rather than by the passport office.

What comes out is a file you can save, a print sheet you can take to a shop, or a PDF. Saving with a watermark is free; removing it is a one-time purchase for that photo.

Most apps in this category upload your face to a server. This one cannot: it declares no internet permission at all, which is a stronger guarantee than a promise in a policy, because the operating system enforces it.

There is no account, no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDK, and no access to the rest of your gallery — only the single photo you hand it. The app reads your face to frame and check the photo, never to identify you, and no face template or biometric identifier is created or stored.
