This policy is issued by LUCIDMAZE, UNIPESSOAL, LDA ("Lucidmaze", "we", "us"), the developer of ID Photo Background Remover ("the app"). The app turns a photo of you into an ID or passport-style photo by removing the background and sizing it for the document you choose. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.
1. Data the app handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| The photo you take or pick | To remove its background and size it | Processed on your device only; never uploaded |
| The live camera view, while the app's camera screen is open | To show you the picture and give framing hints before the shot ("move closer", "hold the head upright") | Looked at on your device, frame by frame, and discarded at once; never recorded, saved or uploaded |
| A photo of your signature, if you use the signature tool | To clean the paper to white and size the signature for an online form | Processed on your device only; never uploaded |
| The edited photo and print sheets | So you can save, print or share them | Kept in the app's memory while you use it; saved to your device only when you tap Save; sent elsewhere only when you tap Share and choose where |
| Settings you choose (document type, background colour, brightness) | To produce the right format | On your device only |
| Record of watermark removals you paid for | So a paid photo stays unlocked | On your device only |
| Purchase details | To remove the watermark after you pay | Handled by Google Play (see §4) |
2. How your photo is processed
Everything happens on your phone. Face finding and background removal use Google ML Kit, which runs on the device with models built into the app. Your photo is not sent to us, to Google, or to anyone else.
The app does not have permission to access the internet. We have no server that receives your photos, and we do not keep, see or use them for anything, including training models. The app looks at your face, on your device, only to frame the photo and to check it against the document's rules (for example head size, whether the eyes are open, and how even the lighting is). It does not identify who you are and does not create or store any face template or biometric identifier.
3. What we do not do
- We do not collect, receive, sell, or share your photos or any personal data.
- The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- The app does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- The app does not read your contacts or location, and does not access your other photos: it only sees the photo you choose in Android's photo picker, or the one you take.
4. Purchases
Saving with a watermark is free. Removing the watermark from a photo is a one-time purchase for that photo, sold through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google; we never see or store your card or payment details. Google Play gives the app a purchase confirmation, which the app checks on your device; we do not receive it. Google's handling of payment data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Permissions
- Camera (asked the first time you tap "Take photo" or "Photograph signature"): used only while the app's camera screen is open, to show the live view, give framing hints and take the picture you ask for. The app does not use the camera in the background and does not record video or sound. If you refuse, you can still choose a photo from your gallery.
- Photos: "Choose from gallery" uses Android's photo picker, which needs no permission. The app receives only the photo you pick.
- Saving: photos and PDFs are saved to your Pictures and Download folders through Android's standard storage system, which needs no permission.
- Google Play billing: to sell the watermark removal.
- The app does not have the internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere.
6. Security
Because your photo never leaves your device, it is protected by your device's own security. Photos you save or share are then ordinary files on your device or with the app you shared them to.
7. Your rights and controls
You can delete saved photos at any time, and uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your device. Because we do not receive or keep any data about you, there is nothing held by us to access or delete. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you still have your rights under the GDPR, including to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD). For any question, email support@lucidmaze.co.
8. Age requirement
This app is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If a parent or guardian makes an ID photo of a child with the app, the photo is handled exactly as described in §2: on the device, and never sent to us.
9. Changes
We will post updates to this page and change the date above.
