A venture builder starts companies rather than backing them. That changes what the work actually is: less selection, far more engineering.
We own what we build
LucidMaze is not an agency and takes no client work. Every company in the portfolio is one we started, hold and run ourselves, which means we live with the decisions long after the interesting part is over.
Infrastructure first
The portfolio runs on its own networking layer. One of our ventures is the tunnel every other one is served through, so the thing we sell is the thing we depend on daily.
Small, technical teams
Products are built by the people who understand them, close to the code and close to the users. Nothing here is specified by one group and handed to another to implement.
Ship, then keep going
A launch is the start of the work. Most of what makes these products worth using — the ledger that reconciles, the limits an agent cannot argue with — was built after the first version was already live.
