Privacy Policy: The Incredible Gizmo

Last updated: 8 October 2026

The Incredible Gizmo ("the game") is made by Lucid Maze ("we", "us"). The game is for players of all ages, including children. We designed it to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what the game collects, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • A random player ID. On first launch the game creates a random identifier for the installation. It is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location or any device hardware ID. We never ask for personal details, and there is no account sign-up.
  • Google Play Games (optional, Android). If you are signed in to Play Games, we receive your Play Games player ID so your progress follows you to your other devices. We don't receive your name or email address.
  • Game progress: solved puzzles, stars, settings, saved machines and puzzles you build. This is stored on your device and, when you are online, backed up to our server so it can be restored.
  • Gameplay statistics: for example which puzzles are started and solved, hints used and parts used. We use them only to run and improve the game, such as finding puzzles that are too hard and fixing problems. They are linked to the random player ID only.
  • Device and approximate location. The device model, operating system version, app version, the game's language, the region and time zone set on the device, and your approximate country. The country is worked out from your internet connection when the game connects; we keep only the country and never store your IP address or your precise location. We use this to make the game work well on more devices and to know where it is played.
  • Daily reminders (optional, Android). If you say yes to a daily-challenge reminder, the game stores a notification token for your device, its language and time zone, so our server can send one reminder a day through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. We also record that a reminder was sent and whether it was opened. You can switch reminders off at any time in the game's Settings or in your device's notification settings.
  • Purchases. On Android, purchases are made through Google Play. We receive only what we need to confirm and deliver a purchase (the product, an order number and a purchase token). We never see payment details. On Steam, the game is bought from Steam, and Steam features (achievements, cloud saves) are provided by Valve under Steam's privacy policy.
  • Community Workshop puzzles. If you choose to publish a puzzle, its title, description and design are visible to other players, together with ratings and reports. Please don't put personal information in titles or descriptions. Published puzzles can be reported by players and are reviewed and removed by moderators when needed.

What we don't do

  • No advertising, and no advertising IDs.
  • No chat or messaging between players.
  • No selling or renting of data, and no sharing with third parties except the service providers that host our server for us and, if you turn on reminders, Google's notification delivery service.
  • No profiling, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no precise location (country only, never GPS or your IP address).

Children

The game can be played by children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. The random player ID and gameplay statistics are used only to operate and improve the game. Purchases and links that leave the game are behind a simple grown-up check. If you are a parent or guardian and want your child's data removed, contact us (see below) and we will delete it.

Where data is stored and for how long

Data is stored on servers operated for Lucid Maze in the European Union. Progress and statistics are kept while the game is in use and deleted when you ask us to delete them. Workshop puzzles stay published until you or a moderator remove them.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, export or delete your data at any time. Email support@lucidmaze.co with the player ID shown in the game's Settings. If you live in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

Data sent between the game and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
